| I had the opportunity several years ago to speak with a gentleman who worked for a Ford Motor Company body panel stamping plant. The most interesting thing I learned from him was that they used a grading scale system to rate the quality of panels they stamped. I donít recall the designations, but basically they started with the best rating for use on black cars. The panel grading diminished from there down through medium colors and white of course was toward the bottom, however, not AT the bottom. The bottom or lowest quality grading was reserved for, (drum roll please!) Ö service replacement partsÖ those highly sought after NOS body panels everyone fights over these days! I havenít installed a single NOS body panel that didnít have some flaw or most often several flaws that wouldíve made its use impossible on an assembly line. So in an ideal world scenario, one wants an original paint panel from a black or dark colored car.
